$100 Amazon Survival Kit
In our latest episode, Cam and I decided to each take $100 and see what we could get on Amazon to build a 3 day survival kit. Below are some of the rules and guidelines we used as well as each of our loadouts. For more on this, please check out Episode 174 - $100 Amazon Survival Kit!
How We Derived the Categories/List the Categories
We took the basics of what we feel we would need for a 3 day survival/bug out kit and broke them down into the following categories -
Bag
Knife/Tool/Self Defense
Shelter
Food
Water
Fire
First Aid
Hygiene
Lighting
Misc
What are the Rules?
- Must build a 3 day survival/Bug out kit
- No Pre-Made Kits
- Must use Amazon
- Must currently be in-stock
- None of those $.01 if you buy 100 items
- Must have one item from each of our categories except misc.
- Cannot go over $100 - (Tax not included)
- You will have appropriate clothing, so that won’t need to be included
- The survival scenario will be a general bug out from a suburban area to a forest/mountain area
- Will need to hide away in the mountains for 3 days and stay alive
- If an item needs batteries or fuel, it must either come with the item, or you must use your money to buy what's needed.
- Cam and I won’t and Can't see each other’s picks, as to influence our choices. And to make it more fun.
Why this exercise is valuable?
- It’s fun
- Makes you really think about everything you’d need to survive and really think about what is most important
- Makes you be frugal as hell, and maybe realize what you could and couldn't do without
-Opens your eyes to some less expensive options out there for prepper gear
- Gets you and your friends talking about the exercise and about what you each may do
- Might make you rethink your current BOB
- If you are light on cash, it shows you that you can actually make something work
