The Perfect Bug Out Bag First Aid Kit

The podcast contained a lot of information on medical supplies, which can be confusing as everyone has their own preferences. So in this post I felt it would be best to summarize the key items for your medical kit. Again, storing a variety of medical supplies, medicines and instruments, can take up a lot of space, so we encourage you to also have a medical kit in your main storage at home or at your BOL. This list is for a quick portable med kit.
My pick of supplies would include the following -
Basic supplies
- Bandages
- Tape
Wound Management
- Suture (prolene, ethilon, etc)
- Multi-tool (leatherman or similar to drive the suture needle and cut tape/suture)
- Coban (self adhering bandage, can be found at pet stores for much cheaper)
- Quick clot (such as Celox)
- Tourniquet ( We recommend R.A.T.S type found here)
Meds
- Aspirin
- Antinausea (Zofran, Promethazine)
- Antacid (tums, rolaids, etc)
- Benadryl
- Anti-diarrhea (Imodium etc)
- Broad Spectrum Antibiotic (Ciprofloxacin 500 mg, Cephalexin 250 mg, Augmentin 875 mg)
